I felt like I was being beaten over the head by "cute." Cute situation, cute characters ...

The opening scene, of a DIY cremation in an Edinburgh back garden, was meant, I think, to catch my attention, but it only left me scratching my head. I live in a rural area, and I wouldn't be able to burn a pile of leaves without the neighbourhood busybodies coming around to tell me I'm breaking various local byelaws. Can't believe that a Very Special BBQ wouldn't have drawn some unwanted attention ... And Johnstone's grasp of physics seems a bit dodgy -- refers a couple of times to the body, or parts of the body, melting ...?

After trying to suspend the disbelief for a few of the short chapters, jumping around from ever-so-cute character, to ever-so-cute character, I gave up ...
