When Monster, the school's champion wrestler, starts wearing high-class clothes and hanging out with a trouble-maker named Zach Pomeroy, Dan and Alex get suspicious and worried for their friend. A local crime wave has hit the neighborhood, and they think the good-natured Monster might be in on it- and in over his head.
Although Dan promised his folks he wouldn't solve another mystery, Alex's enthusiasm and detective instincts draw him in, as usual. They soon discover their honorable intentions could have dangerous consequences.
