Book One in the Silk House Series... adventure, intrigue at court, romance, spies, and very well detailed historical research in a very readable book!

I was so disappointed with this book. It was very graphic regarding fighting, war, and murder. I stick to Christian based books because I typically find them an emotionally safe place to be, this was not. I started the second book in the series and simply could not finish it. It may have been historical, but if I want all the gory details of that historic time frame, I would have picked a secular book series on the topic.

I love Linda Chaikin's writing. This book was a little too physical, but I did enjoy the plot of the book and learned a lot about that time period.
