Holmes has written for television shows including In Treatment, HBO (2008) for which he won a Writers Guild Award for Best New Series, Pushing Daisies (2009; Holmes also credited as producer), Damages (2007) for which he received a Writers Guild Award nomination for Best New Series, 3 lbs (2006; starring Stanley Tucci), and Law & Order (2004-05). According to IMDB.com, Holmes is currently writing and working as supervising producer on a new show for ABC, Happy Town (2009).
Holmes began his writing career in New York City with a production of his original play More Lies About Jerzy (2001) at the Vineyard Theatre starring Jared Harris, and later productions of the play in London at the New End Theatre, and in Los Angeles at the Hayworth Theatre. See reviews.
"Worthy" - TV Show
According to reports from Reuters and the Hollywood Reporter a spec script for an original TV series written by Holmes, titled "Worthy" was purchased by the Fox television network. Holmes is listed as Executive Producer, and Jake Kasdan as director. According to articles, the plot of the show revolves around a corrupt politician and blackmail.
Holmes played keyboard on tour with the popular Ska music band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, playing on their 1989 album "Devil's Night Out". Early releases of the album list him as a band member; releases after Holmes left the band list him under "additional musicians".
