I believe David Eddings' books are hugely overlooked. He made amazing books like The Belgariad and The Mallorean Anyone who wants to read an epic fantasy that leaves LOTR (Lord of the rings) in the dust pick up these books! (I have the 2nd book of the Belgariad on my bookshelf) Last Edited on: 2/27/09 6:51 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I have both The Belgariad and The Mallorean on my keeper shelf, where they've been for years. I haven't been such a fan of his other series. I just got my husband to read The Belgariad. I swear he ripped through all five books in about a week. I like his dry wit, and the intelligence. I also like that this isn't the elves, faeries, D&D type of fantasy. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's been done...to death. What magic occurs in these books is more along the lines of the Force from Star Wars. There is a logic and a science to it. Not just waving a wand and "poof". |
