What a great series and testament of working faith. Certainly presented the issue of being grateful for everything we take for granted each minute of every day while constantly providing food for thought on one's Christian walk in a secular world.
This is the last of four books in the series called Restoration. Set in small town USA.
If you have read the first three, you know that a supernova has wiped out the electrical grid over the entire planet. No electric anything. New cars won't start, old vehicles will but without fuel?
This 4th book wraps up the story line with the country finally being able to start to repair the damage that the supernova created.
I will not give up the ending but I will tell you this:
I started this book late last night probably near midnight with the intention of just reading a "bit". I read straight thru the night and finished about 5am this morning. I would have finished earlier if I had not been crying so hard as I read.

This book was a perfect end to a series of great books! The series made me contemplate...the possibility of energy shortage and how I might survive victoriously!
I was reminded, once again, that God is our strength in any situation!
I have been reminded...preparing ahead for disasters, is very important...more now than ever!
In Dawn's Light, Terri Blackstock finishes the tale of a family who are caught up in life as they never imagined it. How exciting to read this fictional account of how God works in people's lives. Terri Blackstock know how to tell a story!
This was the best series of books that I have read in a long time.
The series is about a family who had to learn how to cope without electricity when it went out all over the world. How they depended upon God and each other It is a book that made me stop and think and realize how blessed I am. It is about hard work, each person pulling their weight, murder, romance and anything else dealing with daily living. Book 4 is when the lights come back on and it was very emotional for me.
I highly recommend the series but do start with book 1.

Might be my favorite of the series! Very powerful! Deals with issues that we as God's children sometimes struggle with when it comes to life and death and suffering. Does not gloss over with pat or lip service answers when there's pain in our hearts and we don't understand why God's allowing it. There were times when I was crying and just had to stop a minute and talk to God about what I was feeling.
Very Real Emotions! There wasn't a single character that I didn't feel like I knew personally. I think it wraps up the story very nicely. I haven't cared for Terri Blackstocks other books, but this series grabbed me from chapter 1 book 1. Very realistic in my opinion.
This one I might consider a keeper, but because of it's powerful message, I feel like it needs to be passed on.

This is a good book; a fast and smooth read. It's the last of a series; however, it's the first I've read. It reads fine as a standalone; there were a few mentions of prior incidents, but not to the extent to interrupt the story. I still plan to read the rest of this series; but out of want, not necessity.
The story line was not unique; but it was done extremely well, with unique and well developed characters. The suspense was page turning; I literally couldn't stop reading. There were some parts where the repetitiveness made it a bit wordy, or over-explained, but other than that. I loved it!
I appreciated the involvement of the Christian faith; we need more books like this. I love to see books where families worship and pray together; but there were some aspects, I did not agree with. Having been in the same place as Kay, some of it hit close to home; but faith in my LOVING God is what helped me through. I don't feel God needs to cause some great wrath to get world's attention; I share my faith simply by the life I live.
Overall, I loved Dawn's Light and give it 4 Boundless Stars.
