If ever there was a couple who needed things to come out right in the end, it's this one. The heroine is terribly wronged yet survives time and time again. It so vivid and heart wrenching that you feel as if this was your own first love lost story told. This story will touch your heart and keep the pages turning.

From the back cover: Beth Melbourne was only seventeen, hovering on the brink of womanhood, when her life was shattered. Tainted and ashamed, she fled Shawnee, Louisiana, leaving behind the hope-filled innocence of youth.

Years later, no hint of that girl remains in the assured, successful woman Beth has become. Only she knows the dreams still hiding deep within her heart. Only she knows the love she still harbors for the boy she once worshiped. But that boy is now a man, a man with a child he adores. He's found the happiness that Beth herself denied him.

But a secret connects them, a secret he doesn't - couldn't - know, a secret as powerful as time, as inescapable as the passion they'd once shared.
