This is such a lovely story of 2 artists in Tuscany of the Middle Ages. It transports you and drops you into the culture of another place and time. The elegant prose is only matched by the brilliant story.

Take journeys via characters in a remote 16th-century Apennine village; in the Tuscan plains and on to the household of the artist Titian. The stories of the mountain village span several decades in Venice & Florence; Titians art shares his art & life and wonder out of the bleakness, plague and hunger through the characters he depicts. Fitzgerald's beautifully describes Titians art.
