Daymond G. John (born February 23, 1969) is an American fashion designer, author, and businessman from New York. He is best known for being the founder and CEO of the fashion company FUBU.
John was born in Brooklyn in 1969 and was raised in Hollis, Queens. He has two daughters, who reside with their mother in Cary, North Carolina.
Fashion
John joined the fashion industry when he mortgaged his house and got $100,000 in credit to start designing and selling hats. He began designing hats in the basement of his mother's New York house. Eventually he went from designing hats to designing other accessories and articles of clothing, and started making a considerable profit. He started FUBU in 1992 and is the chief executive officer and president.

Television
John is a 'Shark' on the new ABC television show Shark Tank.He, along with the other 'Sharks', give small time inventors and businesspeople a chance to make it big by offering them thousands-to-millions of dollars in investments. In the show he is partners with Barbara Corcoran, Kevin O'Leary and others. The show is produced by Survivor creator Mark Burnett and is based on the British show Dragons' Den, which has a similar premise.

John ranked #15 in Details Magazine’s “50 Most Influential Men”, received the prestigious “Top Forty Under Forty Award” from Crain’s Business, and was the recipient of the 2003 Ernst & Young’s New York Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
FUBU has received numerous honors for entrepreneurial achievements, including NAACP’s “Entrepreneurs of the Year” Award, the Essence Award, a Citation of Honor for “Team FUBU” from the Office of the President, Borough of Queens, City of New York, and the Congressional Achievement Award for Entrepreneurship.
