I don't know anywhere else but here to ask this.  I ordered a book from a member who was running a 3/1 special and pm'ed her about the other two I wanted for freebies.  Then she didn't mail them on time and the one book I ordered got rolled over to the second in line to send it.  So I received the book I ordered but  not the freebies.  This is the second time this happened recently.  Is there a way to keep PBS from automatically rolling my request over to the next sender in line when it is part of a "deal"?

I hope this makes sense to someone!

Thanks for any help

Cynthia R.

Cynthia,

I don't think there is any  way to keep the book from rolling over.

oh!!! so you ended up ordering the book from another person, not the deal person??? man that is annoying. I don't know ho to stop that from happening, excpet maybe to cancel the order if you see that it wasn't from the deal person.

Can't you report them to PBS?  Didn't know you could order books from someone other than the PBS member.  Sounds dishonest to me!

Great question - I've had this happen too and it is most annoying!

Before anyone uses the Book Bazaar they should read through the red sticky thread http://www.paperbackswap.com/How-Use-Forum-Please-Read/topic/39715/. There is a section on deals and it does mention the issue of requests rolling and going to someone other that the deal offering member.

All deals brokered are UNOFFICIAL. That means the system isn't set up to deal with them and the site doesn't mitigate problems from them (though they will talk to problem swappers and boot people who are running fraudulent deals).

So that means all the system knows is you wanted the book you ordered. It will continue to work to get that book you want until it gets it for you. You can use the Contact Us link in the lower right under Company to send in Feedback asking them to do something in the system to be able to stop deal requests from rolling over, but with a very long list of things to get done for official transactions, it may not be a priority.

If this happens I would send a message to the member that did not follow through on the deal and let them know what the result of their inaction is. Some members do not realize that the requests roll to someone else.  If they are continuing to offer the deal in the Bazaar, it might also pay to caution people in the thread to not order any books until the sender confirms they will be accepting the requests.
