I like to read through the different genre forums and some are some are literally crammed full of nothing but deal posts and  looking for posts..even with a red sticky at the top for posting them there are still individual threads all over the place. One forum I frequent posts in th ethread to please look for the threads already started for that purpose but just the other day there were at least 4 posts looking for a deal. The children's forum is loaded with deals/looking for threads and it's hard to skim through to find interesting posts.

maybe each genre forum needs a discussion thread and a deal thread..like 'children's books discussions only' and 'children's books deals only'.

just ranting..until we're all issued thread zappers guess I just have to tolerate it!

I've posted in several of the deals threads at the YA forum and the children's forums, letting people know that they should be posting in the deal threads.  It's irritating that people can't/ won't even skim the thread titles to see that there is a deal thread. It's bright red!

It would be great.  I have looked in those deal threads and only a couple of deals are there.

I know, me too Susanna.  I have been trying to post in those threads in the L&R forum and let people know which thread they should be posting in, but there are just too many to keep up with- it's almost like a full-time job anymore.  I think that's really all we can do though.  People just don't seem to see the deals sticky threads at the top, and there are just so many members here anymore and more new members all the time, there is no way to educate everyone en masse.  All we can do is let people know, one at a time, where they should be posting deals or books they are looking for, rather than in separate threads.  I don't know what more PBS can do- you'd think that the bold, red stickies at the top of every forum would be noticible enough!  I guess we just have to keep moderating things ourselves, and let people know that there are specific places that they should be posting and/or requesting deals.

It's because some of those forums aren't very active like the L&R board or the mystery/thriller board.  If no one is posting discussion threads then the deal threads don't get pushed down.  So to get the down the people who like those boards need to bump up older discussions and start new ones. That's what we do on the L&R board. When someone posts a deal usually someone else will politely ask that they use the sticky thread.  Then people usually go back a page or to and bump up discussions to revive them-or start new ones.

actually I don't see many "deal" threads in mystery/thriller and most are good about posting them where they should be.

The mystery one doesn't seem too bad...every so often I see some posts there looking for certain books or offering deals but not like some of the others. The love and romance used to have TONS of them and every so often there's another flood of them...but as Mary said we just keep bumping up the good stuff!

I feel the same way about game threads posted someplace other than the GAMES forum.  Annoying!

I've spent one or two mornings bumping above those deals threads myself:P  I don't like seeing them, but I usually don't get too highly perturbed about it.  I think one very gentle reminder is the best policy, and then bump a few threads above it & move on.  Most of them are from people who don't use that forum; they think they're posting them in the best place for them to be seen by people who read that genre, they probably aren't all that familiar with the forum rules & keeping deals in sigs and the BB, and they likely didn't spend time looking to see if there was a sticky thread in there for them.  I'm still not used to the sticky in the L&R forum.  I can remember to post deals there, but I miss out on a lot of good ones because I forget to check it regularly:P

I was using the Mystery thriller board as an example of an active board.  When there are lots of discussions posted the deals get bumped down. But some of those threads have hardly any discussions going on so the deal threads are more noticeable.
