My 15-year-old son checked out a Dean Koontz novel from the library (77 Shadow Street). Since I've never read any Koontz I'm not sure if it would have any elements I wouldn't want my son exposed to, e.g. gratuitous sex, profanity, extreme scariness, etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Since you posted some time ago - this may be way too late but I suggest you read it first, as depending on the book it may have all, but certainly some, of the elements you are concerned about.  Koontz's villains are often quite disturbed and disturbing.
