There are already two books out.  I got an email a couple of weeks ago from the Koontz website saying that the third book is coming out soon.

DH and I read the first two and liked them.

I'm still confused.  An ad in book two states book three will be on sell summer 2006.  If I was a hard core follower of his, I would be really upset.  If I had known there was going to be a third book, I would have waited to start the series.  Do authors do this all the time?

LOL! It gets confusing, doesn't it? Being a great Koontz fan I know this one. He was working on the third one when Hurricane Katrina hit, so he decided to put off it's publication. I'm glad it's coming out, though. I've been looking forward to reading the last part of the series.

I'm glad to hear the 3rd one is finally coming out.  I like the first two very much, but I may have to reread them because it has been so long, of course that would mean getting them again...sigh...that is the problem with series...too long in between.

Okay, being a fan of Koontz, and a fan of the Frankenstein series, I was EXTREMELY upset.  I read the first 2 books in record time, and have been anxiously awaiting the 3rd for 3 years now.

It is true about postponing for Katrina.  He also postponed because while the first 2 books were collaboratively with other authors, he realized that he "doesn't play well with others".   The third book may end up being written entirely by Koontz.

I'm planning to re-read the first 2 books prior to the release of the third.

He has done the same thing with the Christopher Snow character's series.  He wrote 2 books: Fear Nothing, and Seize the Night.  There has been talk on his website about a third book for a few years, but still nothing.

Stephen King also did something similar with his Dark Tower series.  He released 3 books early on, the 4th book in the late 90's and then no others in the series until 2003-2004, and all of a sudden the rest of the series was out.

Has anybody read it yet?  My supervisor and I were both excited it was finally out and both read it last weekend.  No spoilers, but we were disappointed.  I enjoyed the first two books but the third one..... not so much.
