A very readable and significant study of contemporary American Infantry By Colonel Daniel Bolger. " He presents each of the currently existing types of infantry-paratroopers, air assault, mechanized, light, rangers, and marines ..." (back cover). As a former (45 years ago) ranger/light infantry officer, I can attest to his evaluations of the current crop of all types of American infantry as being better then ever and the best in the world. He closes with a warning of perhaps too much emphasis on technology and economy and not enough of these highly trained and competent "boots on the death ground".
