Been awhile since I read it, but I know I enjoyed all of this series that I read -- it's like a trip to Martha's Vineyard with likable laid-back characters until a murder strikes.

Another in a series of Martha's Vineyard mysteries. Lots of clues leading to multiple possibilities of criminals, interesting plot twists, and enough "spooks" to keep you reading and wanting more. Good read!

The difference this time is that JW is investigating an attempted murder, and there is no death/murder until the very end of the book, after the mystery has been solved.

I like beer. I mean I really like beer. I feel no supper is complete unless I have a good beer to accompany it. But I limit it to one beer. I'm a moderate beer drinker, not a boozer. And some scientific studies show moderate beer drinkers have a 34% less chance of heart disease.
But J.W. is not a moderate drinker. I mean, what kind of person has two beers with lunch and then stops off later to have another one or two in the afternoon at a bar, before going home to his wife, where they will have martinis before supper, beer or wine with supper and then cognac after supper. They are on their way to becoming alcoholics, if they are not there already.
If J.W. is invited to lunch, as he is in this book, he brings two six-packs of beer. I guess he is afraid his hosts will not serve liquor. Hey, J.W. it's time to sign up for AA!

Yet, in this book, J.W. has the nerve to criticize a fisherman who "drinks too much." Makes you wonder if the author was a boozer himself.
Oh, I forgot, there was a mystery here too.
