The murderer was known as "Van Gogh". Leaving a bloody trail of bodies from coast to coast, this serial killer marked his targets with a gruesome signature: He harvested the victim's right ear. After a viscious manhunt, the FBI took him out. But for Boston attorney Jimmy Morrissey, Van Gogh's death was only the beginning. Two FBI agents show him a chilling piece of evidence found in Van Gogh's apartment: the photograph of a beautiful woman, with Morrissey's name and address scrawled on the back. Who is she, and what connects her--and the serial killer--to Morrissey? To discover the truth,, Morrissey takes on a client who no longer exists and mounts a defense for the dead.

I really didn't think at the time I bought this book that it was going to be as good as it was...I was just quickly picking a book for a boring night at home. Turns out it was a lucky pick. Good thriller. Worth the read.

I liked this book; it's a little different from the typical legal-mystery-thriller. The actual mystery story isn't as well-developed or intriguing, but I enjoyed the way the main character is developed, and the fact that it kind of leaves you hanging a little bit, wondering what happened next.
