Hi- I mailed out two books, both with delivery confirmation. I went into the post office and dropped both books into the "bin" at the same time. I received a credit for one of the books one day after mailing them, but not for the other one. Has anyone else had this happen? I guess I should just wait until the requestor receives it before I start worrying, but it's just strange that one book was "scanned" and I received a credit for it, but the other book wasn't. I don't think the DC being scanned is ever what triggers the credit. If you use PBS postage and DC, you'll get the credit as soon as you mark the book mailed. If you use USPS DC on your own, I don't think you ever get credit until the receiver marks it received. |

It happens all the time around here, so I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. The PO isn't obligated to scan online postage until delivery, but *most* do get scanned at the regional sorting center in my area. Sometimes, though, there are too many packages to fit on the truck and the media mail ones are forced to wait at my PO for a day or two or the scanner doesn't scan a particular package for some reason. It will get scanned sooner or later although it is irritating when you use PBS quick credit options. = ) Edited for clarity Last Edited on: 7/8/09 1:37 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

don't think the DC being scanned is ever what triggers the credit. - Lisa, with PBS-DC only, the scan is what triggers the credit. It only waits until the member marks it received if there are no scans along the way. Kellie - I actually have that happen quite a bit when I bluebox books. Its usually because of the route a book takes. Many of the books I send to the east of me do not go through the Minneapolis/St Paul sorting center, which is the closest to me. So if I send one book to Wisconsin and one to Texas, the Texas book will often get scanned within a couple of days in Mpls, but the Wisconsin book may go until delivery until it gets a scan. |

That happened to me today, mailed out 3 orders and handed them to the same person, and have only gotten quick credit for 1 of the orders. I'm glad I checked here first, I wasn't sure if I needed to call the p.o. or just wait and see if the other 2 finally get thru. I'll wait....for a little while! |

I called my p.o. today and she told me that she did scan all 3 packages at the same time. I got quick credit for one of them. So, in this case, is it pbs that is the hold up or what? We have a very small post office, so it's not like they have misplaced my packages and she clearly remembers the scans.

It happens to me all the time, no idea why. I live in the Minneapolis area and there is a regional distribution center there, and I drop my books into a blue box in the suburbs. Sometimes I'll send out 5 books--three will be scanned later that night and two not until the next day. No idea why, but yes, it does happen. Technically, DC is DELIVERY confirmation so they don't have to scan it at all until it is delivered, but often there are several scans along the way. Cheryl |

I mailed out a book with paypal DC to a member within my own state. 8 days later I still had not received credit or any word from the other member, so I checked the DC#. It showed that the book had been delivered 5 days previosly. So I wrote a quick message to the PBS member asking them to mark the book received since my DC says it had been delivered 5 days prior. They marked it received within an hour or two.
I don't know if I was out of line, but it worked. |

You weren't out of line...they forgot. You reminded them. After 5 days I think it is okay as long as it's polite. Ruth |
