I got a request for a book on June 5, and shipped it out on the 6th with printable postage and delivery confirmation. The delivery confirmation details section says that the book was delivered to the member on June 10th. However, the member has not marked the book as received. I sent her a polite personal message a few days ago, asking her if there was a problem with the book or if she forgot to mark it as received. However, I did not receive a response.

If the member does not mark the book as received, even though the delivery confirmation record shows it was delivered, does this somehow count "against" me or go on the record? I searched the help documents, but could not find a conclusive answer.

Thanks for the help!

The same thing is happening with me, too.  Maybe we sent something to the same person and they are on vacation?!

DC only means that it was delivered to the post office for that person - not the actual person.  For that you would have to buy Return Receipt.  I have a book that was sent to me from within my state and I'm sure it must have gotten here (no PBS DC), but it will be considered lost on the 1st.  Things can bog down.

it could be that the person is away, has a broken computer and can't post they received it or It could also mean that the book was delivered to the wrong address in error.  This will not count against you in any way. Even if the book is shown as lost, you have proof that the book was mailed and since you used PBS printable postage, you've already received your credit :)

  • Arrival at unit = at the Post Office
  • Delivered = delivered (somewhere!)

Carol: Maybe we are dealing with the same person. Who knows? :)

Ruth and Lori: Thank you for your help! I'm relieved now. Phew.

If you used printable postage, then you have the credit...............but I guess you would like someone to mark it received???!

Also, if the receiver doesn't log on for several weeks, the system will automatically mark it received for you.

did you check to see if they are actually still a member?  that happened to me once, they ordered the book and then quit (guess they got their 2 or 3 free books).  After the 26th day it was marked by the system as received since they were no longer a member.

I just received today, June 30th, a book that was marked "Delivery Confirmed"  on June 18th.  When I got an email from PBS telling me that it had been marked "Delivered" and I had better mark it received or else, I panicked a little because I didn't have the book.  I emailed PBS and they understood.  I checked with my local post office and they had no idea where it was, but they had it in their system as having been checked in at their office.   My letter carrier said he didn't remember delivering it (and he has delivered a lot of Swap packages to me).

I contacted the poster and told her what was going on.  We agreed that we would just had to trust that it would eventually show up or wait for PBS to declare it lost

It finally showed.  Sheesh.
