I ordered a box of books from a member, she had delivery conformation on the package. I just checked and it says I got it , but I didn't. How do I handle this? |
|||

I'd contact my local post office. They might remember the box or know what's going on. |

When does the scan say it was delivered? If it was just within the last few days then I'd wait a day or two. Or maybe call the post office and ask. One of the books lost en route to me shows a delivery scan. I contacted the post office and asked but didn't have any luck. I just PM'd the sender and explained that I didn't get the book afterall. |

This is a box of books that have been all over . She mailed the box on the 15th and this is the scan from the delivery conformation. The weird thing is we haven't even gotten our mail today

Well, back in April I had a book scanned as delivered to me, and it actually arrived in my mailbox 16 days later. It will probably get delivered with your mail later today, though. I would at least wait that long before I started contacting the PO. Last Edited on: 9/6/11 12:34 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Some post offices mark packages as "delievered" when they get processed/sorted/placed on the truck. Sara is right, you'll probably get it in the today or the next day or so. |

Just got my mail for today, I have a bunch of boxes but not that one. I did ask my carrier about it he said and I quote " DON'T KNOW AIN'T SEEN IT". So I will wait until tomorrow and if I don't get it I will contact my post office

If you find out that it was marked delivered and not actually delivered yet, REPORT IT TO USPS.COM. That means a delivery person is pre-marking items and should be reported so their training can be corrected. Don't wait 2-3 days like someone said here -- because they are not supposed to be pre-marking items as delivered, and unless there's no space in the delivery vehicle that day, they are not supposed to leave items behind an extra day or 3. (Media Mail is "space available mail", but in most areas, that just means that you won't get any on Monday when the mail volume is highest) Hopefully, it just was delivered to the wrong house and will turn up very soon. |

Good choice Bertie, always a dilema deciding how long to wait. If the package is truly mis-delivered, the sooner you report it the better the chance it might be recovered. If it's just a mail back-up after the long weekend, nagging too soon will merely annoy your postal staff. My PO scans the books as they hand them to me (or place them in my mailbox). If the scan says delivered to me, it's no longer in the possession of USPS. Not all PO's have the same procedures tho. Edited for spelling...when I grow up I wanna be able to spell lol! Sometime Delivered means delivered to Payson, UT, not delivered to you. I had a package (not books) that was sent UPS and marked delivered - it was delivered to the nearest USPS delivery center! For some reason companies are choosing to use UPS to deliver a package to the post office for the post office to deliver them to your house. It took my package another week to get to me from about two miles away! What I'm saying is your package could just be sitting in the PO waiting to be delivered. I'd call or go to the office to check on it. |

Call you local post office and tell them. I would bet your carrier mis-delivered the box and isn't going to give a rats butt until his boss says something about it. Most post office's don't scan "delivered" at the facility and since they have 3 other scans indicating all the other activity at the po, its most likely a delivery scan. I've called mine on one and they made the carrier go asking for it around their route. Last Edited on: 9/8/11 9:22 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

And I guess the book had actually been returned to sender. It went back out again and eventually I got it. Tracking followed the whole thing. I guess it may have been delivered to the wrong address, in which case the recipient will probably put it back in their mailbox and it'll start getting scanned again. |

I agree with Melanie. Bertie's PO is using the updated scan format. Therefore we can see 'Arrival at Unit', 'Out for Delivery', and 'Delivered'. I'd probably ask the local postmaster. |

Ok I checked with my PO and they said they will try to check where the books were delivered. The Carrier said he doesn't remember even having the box. He did deliver 2 other boxes to me the day the other said it was delievered. So now we wait a see.

Geri - in that case, it's supposed to be a UPS scan that reads "Tendered to USPS". Then, if you scan the USPS tracking #, the first entry is an acceptance scan from UPS at the local PO. |

Interesting Michael, will have to watch for that. |

I once PM'd someone to see if they had received a book that was listed as Delivered under Details. They hadn't, so they checked with the local post office and found that the package had fallen behind a counter. |

Mine was marked delivered, but I did not get it... went the next day to check with post office. They took down the information. They had a 'sub' working the route that day. My regular mail carrier delivered it the next day. |

I finally got the package, the person who it was delivered to took it back to the post office. The package had 5 books in it . Out of the 5 books 4 went right into the recycle bin. They were wet, torn and not worth having. So I spent 2 credits on 1 book LOL |

Before I moved I had a mail carrier that misdelivered a lot of my mail and mail of others as I got their mail. So when I got a book "delivered" by the DC scan and never received it, I had to call the supervisor. It got to be very frustrating. Bertie, I'm glad you finally got your package but am sorry to hear the books were damaged. |

OK Michael, I recently received some of those 'transferred' packages. Don't see a scan that actually says transferred tho (Fedex Smartpost, Kent). If a customer knows what they are looking for the information is kinda there:
Another package was noted the same, but the heading is different:
