The back of this book made it sound like pretty standard fantasy adventure - a fun read. However, the first several chapters were so unimaginative and cliche, I almost put the book down there. I did keep laughing and having to read parts to my husband who couldn't believe how badly this began. It was one thieving cliche after another.

I always try to read at least 25% of a book, so despite wanting to be done with the book, I kept going. Once we start getting into other characters, the book does improve a bit. A second viewpoint character comes from the "stupidly noble" knight mold, but a third seems to color outside the lines of the "former noble knight turned thug" mold a bit.

However, the book didn't improve quickly enough to wash the taste of the opening from my mouth by the 25% mark and I gladly set this book down and moved onto something else.
