I don't even know where to begin. Desire Unchained was absolutely fantastic! Ione's second effort in her Demonica series was even better than the first. The story is about Shade and Runa. Runa was a human female that Shade was involved with in the first book. They come together again through the machinations of a psycho demon. Shade learns that Runa was attacked by a warg (aka werewolf) and has become one. Runa works for the government and is sent to learn about the demon hospital that Shade and his brothers run.

Though dark at times, I loved the relationship between Shade and Runa. They both had some serious issues to deal with, but the resolutions were deep and true. Their attraction to each other was fierce and hot. This author brings a level of realness to her paranormal world and I was sucked in from the beginning. There was so much suspense, action, humor; you name it, this story had it. It was extremely difficult to put this down and I highly recommend it. I cannot wait to get my greedy little hands on the next one.

Book Two in the Demonica paranormal romance series. Shade is an Incubus Demon, and Runa was the Human woman whose heart he had broken. They are unwittingly reunited by an evil, unknown, revenge seeking enemy. But Runa is not the same sweet, timid, naive Human that Shade remembers, and now she knows what he is. This is a great story. Great plot, lots of action. The book includes many interesting, tormented secondary characters, whose stories beg to be told. Great characters, humor, lots of action (and violence), hot sex scenes and a compelling romance. Fans of JR Ward will enjoy this series. I'm anxiously anticipating the next installment.

Reader beware, this book is not for the light hearted romance reader. There was some serious heat and a dark edge to this story that was not for the faint of heart. But, having said that, I think I loved it. This series just keeps getting better and better. The author has done a terrific job of both character building and world building. Although I think she did a better job of the character building with Tayla and Eidolon (book 1), she still made me fall in love with Slade and Runa and I couldn't put this one down. I can't wait until the next in the series. Great read, if you like your romance with a dark, urban, paranormal edge.

Just when you think the Demonica series can't get ANY better?! WRONG! IT'S BETTER! This book has all of the original characters from the first book: Tayla, Eidolon, Shade, Wraith, Kynan, Gem, Luc... and intertwines book 1's plot with book 2! This book had me with chapter and the plot just being there. No build up, no 100 pages of blag, blag, blag (my take on blah and gag). Nope! It is right there!

It made me wanna cry, it made me smirk, it made me go WTF!? It was so good I can't type anymore, I am shaking with such excited happiness! IT WAS SO GOOD! I opened my living room window and screamed it was so good! And I just want more! That ould be some of the shaking. I WANT MORE! I want to see Runa and Shade together FOREVER.. Just keep writing it! NEED TO SEE IT!

Someone.. PLEASE call HBO.. This series NEEDS to replace True Blood! PLEASE!? This series makes me want to watch! I want it to be a show/miniseries/movie.. I don't care! I NEED MORE!

First off, this is not for the light romance reader or someone who has trouble reading about some off-beat sexual practices. There is some consensual bdsm, but it might be much for someone who hasn't read such things before. The bdsm itself was strange. I'm not averse to reading about it, but it didn't make any sense to do it for the reasons given in the story. It's also not enjoyable if the dom doing it isn't into it and clearly this dom didn't want to do it so for those reasons, the whole scene made me cringe. If you want good bdsm, read one of Joey Hill's books.

There's much more action in this second book in the Demonica series. You have vampires, shape shifters, weres, demons, humans, evil humans, fallen angles, and even a fairy or two. If you like the series, you can't skip this book although it's not the best book in the series. The humor and light-hearted interactions in the first book are missing here.

This is the story of Shade, the brother of the hero, in the first book. Shade is another gorgeous humanoid demon who works as a paramedic. He's unfortunately under a curse that will haunt him if he ever falls in love. I have mixed feelings about the book. I enjoyed it enough to finish it over two days. However, it's not as good as the first Demonica book. There's something missing here. The heroine, a human who was once involved with the hero, is unlikable, at least to me. She's a timid mousy woman who turns into an angry bitter heroine. I just didn't find her as compelling as Tayla from the first book. There's quite a bit of character stupidity. If the hero had been more honest with the heroine about his curse, a lot of trouble could have been avoided.

For those who get turned off by cheating from the hero -pass on this book. The hero is a cheater.

The second book in Ione's Demonica series continues to expand on the fascinating world she introduced us to in the first book. Shade and Runa were introduced in the 1st book and their story is hot and sweet and has me hooked on the series. I'm looking forward to reading more about Wraith and Gem and Luc and the rest of the staff at Underworld General Hospital.

When Seminus Demon Shade wakes up chained in a dungeon, he doesn't know how he got there or who is behind his kidnapping. He also doesn't know why his ex-girlfriend, Runa Wagner, is locked up with him. Runa hates Shade, blaming him for their breakup and for the attack that changed her life. Now an enemy from Shade's past wants revenge against him and his brothers. After watching Shade endure hours of torture at his enemy's hands, Runa will do anything she can to help him survive. But Runa is just as dangerous to Shade who must keep his distance from Runa or endure a life of hell because of an ancient curse.

Wow, this story has everything...an interesting plot, a scary villain, great romance and hot sex. On top of that there is humor, appealing characters, and compelling secondary romance. I liked Shade when he was introduced in the first book. Runa is a perfect mate for him. I also loved the Underground General Hospital setting which is so unique for a paranormal series. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. My rating: 5 Stars.

I was leery about starting a series in book two but BOY am I glad I got over that quick. The intensity of Ione's demon's make this book a serious page turner. The characters are well written and engrossing. I identified with Runa because even though in this story she was strong and a force to be reckoned with they reference her not always being that way. In that I can identify.
The love scenes in this sizzle and I found myself literally getting lost in the book...... looking up from reading it and expecting to find myself in a cave or surrounded by demons.

I read this book a couple months ago and couldn't tell you anything about it. I guess I liked it enough to put it on my bookshelf but it is obviously not memorable.

OMG what a book! The sex scenes (and there are lots) are fantastically erotic. I never thought I'd have it bad for a demon but shade is beyond sexy.

Shade (an incubus demon) caught in the act with a married women is cursed by the husband to always know unending pain, unrelieved desire, be hungry and thirsty if he ever succombs to love. So eventhough Runa totally does it for him, he is fighting tooth and nail to not fall head-over-heels in love with her.

When a demon captures Runa and starts torturing her, it takes all Shade has to keep his heart from breaking and proving his love though beginning the curse.

I love it when the tough bad-ass falls hard for the heroine. It's justice for all their playboy ways and treating women like chattel.

This is a great book.

I have to confess that even though I read the first book of this series, I could not get past page 30 on this one. It takes a while to really get started on the story. I was confused with the characters. It was a while between the first book I read and the second one. I have read better series since I found this series. I guess I am more into a good plot than bad words and explicit sex. I do not really mind it within context, but here it is too much. I will not be following this series.

This series is not for the "Faint at Heart", But this has an extremely well written Story line. Larissa Ione is a very talented Author. The Demonica Novel is not one that should be passed up.

Shade and Runa mix it up. Shade is debauched and wounded at the same time. Runa is reeling from learning how to become a werewolf and mending her broken heart. To me the main emotional story is that of the incubus brothers though. Devotion, betrayal, sacrifice, loyalty and vengeance - just your regular family dynamic. A solid contribution to the series. Recommended.

I agree with the other reviewers this is a darker side to Shade and his sexual fetishes. That being said - I LOVED IT! I literally couldn't put this one down - forget the weekend chores I read this on a Saturday afternoon cover to cover!

Shade the tortured bad boy and Runa found more than she went looking for.

Runa is someone we can all relate to, having been rejected in a relationship. Life experiences make her stronger and she returns a year later to meet Shade in an dark dungeon.

Shade has a sexual appetite that can't be suppressed by the standard vanilla he has to take it to the extreme - pain and misery for his partners only. No emotional contact and he is always the one in control until he meets Runa in the Dungeon...

So, I read this in nearly one sitting. I got to like chapter 3 before heading off to the hospital to wait for my God-son to be born. I ended up getting to the 2nd to last chapter while waiting for him, lol. I finished the rest late last night and I looooved it. I almostdidn't want to get out of the hospital chair to go see the baby. Almost!

I remember reading that Runa was the heroine in this book and, it was just after reading Eidolon's book, so I wondered why in the hell she was back with Shade! Those who have read Pleasure Unbound will know why I wondered that.

I'm glad she came though because this was one whirl-wind romace. I thought Tayla gave Eidolon, wait until you see how hard of a time Runa gives Shade at first. Then the roles switch and it's Shade giving Runa the cold shoulder. Jeeze, such a complicated...but true and honest romance. Not even Shade could deny his love for Runa and it nearly cost him his very existence.

Besides the romance though, there were MAJOR shockers! One at the very beginning and one at the very, very end. I won't say which is the horrible one and which is the good one, you'll have to read it for yourselves. But I highly recommend you read this. It is amazing.

Plain and simple.

Fans of the Demonica series will not be disapointed. New comers will be instantly hooked.

The opening scene of Shade urging Runa to "climb on and get started", he'll catch up. Was priceless. Shade oozes a type of machismo that doesn't get old. His protective instinct and/or sexual urges are so merged with his personality that you complety fall for him. When the Hero fights his love for the Heroine the reasons vary but
are based in emotionally scarred barriers that can often grate after about 6,7,8 chapters. Shade's resistance actually depended on his life, but it hurt him and Runa to the point where I was hurting. It was torture but it was so well written I kept turning the page for more.

Runa is an ex of Shade's that is bitten by a werewolf and is turned. While they are captured she bites Shade and is able to transfer the wolf gene to Shade. There is a lot going on in this novel. Yet again Larissa Ione jugggles multiple characters, story lines and increases the depth of her demon world with ease. Old fans will be rabid for Wraith's story(Passion Unleashed) by the end of Shade's story. New fans will be glad to be able to read Pleasure Unbound (if you have not yet, do!).

The 2nd in the series this book continues where the 1st left off in terms of character development. Lots of surprises. A bit confusing as to what Shade's 'powers' can do, left me a bit like, really. But, I enjoyed Shade's story and will continue to discover what happens with the brothers.
