Are there languages other than English that you could use?  In the last few years there are some wonderful Buddhist works (a la Pema Chodron style) that have come out of Taiwan and PRC.

Have you read Ordinary People as Monks and Mystics by Marsha Sinetar.  It is not Buddhist literature, but has some of the same feelings.  It's mostly based on Jungian stuff on self-actualization, but this particular book is quite nice.  Her later books get bogged down in her own Christian beliefs, but Ordinary People as Monks and Mystics is a great read for a Buddhist.
