As a result, many have reduced costs, increased revenues, found new markets, improved access to capital, addressed risks, or achieved other business benefits. The business case is a key tool to help achieve sustainability globally. While past studies have examined the business case in developed economies, this study breaks new ground with its focus on emerging markets. It is the result of a unique collaboration between the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group; the strategy consultancy SustainAbility; and the Ethos Institute in Brazil.
