The Devil Down Home
Author: Eve K. Sandstrom
It's a stormy night in the town of Holton, just the sort of weather to put people in the mood for the local haloween haunted house fund-raiser, with its coffins and cobwebs. Spotting Dracula hitchhiking at the side of the road, Sheriff Sam Titus and his wife, Nicky, do the neighborly thing - give him a lift. Black cloak and deathly pallor aside, the stranger's name is Damon Revels, and his business in Holton goes back fifteen years. But trick or treat turns deadly when Damon's body is found in a coffin at the local Haunted House fund-raiser. Surrounding the knife protruding from his chest is a pentagram - the mark of devil worshipers. A human sacrifice? Then another murder with satanic trimmings occurs and terror is mounting. Whether it actually is a cult or the work of a clever killer, Sam and Nicky are now hunting the devil down home.
