A very easy read. Not a bad book altogether, but it's a bit predictable. If you're looking for something to pass the time, this is a good choice. I'll be looking for more from this author.
The story starts in the pre-civil war South, but the character then travels to New England.
Back cover reads:
Drusila runs away from a foster home to find her cousin Dorothea, who had written about marrying a Mr. Berkley. When she reaches Devon House she finds Dorothea missing and two "Mr. Berkley's"--handsome Simon and scarred Nicholas. Taking on the job of housekeeper at grim Devon House, she begins to find clues that her cousin was there, and a lot more besides--bodies, drugs, evil servants. Drusilla has to decide which brother is behind all of this, and which one is going to be the love of her life.
