I really enjoyed this book - three connected stories. My favorite kind.

Three interconnected novelettes about a complicated family. The Duchess ran away to live with and then marry the Duke, thus creating a complicated family structure. The Duke and Duchess were finally able to marry but died of a fever on their honeymoon. Three of their children live at Welbourne Manor - Justine Savard, who is the Duke's illegitimate daughter by an Italian mistress; and the illegitimate daughters of the Duke and Duchess, Annalise Fitzmanning, a painter, and her sister Charlotte Fitzmanning, a writer who has two michievous pugs, Oliver and Octavia. Who are the Fitzmannings and where do they belong, now that their parents are gone?

Very well told tales.
