I started FAIR PLAY today but it isn't grabbing me. I'm on chapter 5 and I'm wondering if I should go on. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for a contemporary.

I've never read anything by her so any input would be great.

I like her books.  I've read the whole hockey series and most of them are a lot of fun, although a couple are a bit boggy to read.  Fair Play is the second in the series, but they can be read independently.  Give it another couple of chapters.  It's been a long time since I read it, so I can't remember whether it started slow or not.

I like her too.  Love the hockey stories best but the pub series is good too.

I"ve read a couple of the hockey books - ok but not great IMO but I enjoyed them enough at the time and may read some more. the first I read was about the dog walker/sitter with angorophobia I think it is..she was definitely a loner seems like. then one about a fireman

Preferred her earlier hockey books to those later in the series.  But did enjoy them.  Can't remember exactly which characters "Fair Play" had so I can't comment on specifics.....sorry.

I guess I'm in the minority - I've tried two of her books (can't even remember which) and hated both of them.  I felt like the characters were SO juvenile and everything about it (plot, writing, etc) screamed soap opera.

I read the 3 books in the pub series, and they were just ok to me.  I felt like she was trying to hard to define her characters- like they were very exaggerated or something.  I couldn' t stand the French gal, not even in her own book.  Just meh for me.

I must go with the majority and say they are so-so. Some are certainly better than others - I know there were a few I started and could not make myself finish. I liked the earlier hockey ones - they were always must-reads as soon as a new one came out - but I have disliked the  more recent ones so much that I haven't even rushed to put them on my WL and may remove the next one if it doesn't get good reviews from my fellow PBSers.

I remember finding the ones I read interesting, but not very romantic.
