I had a book on my bookshelf with the blue No Cover picture. I uploaded a copy of the cover and it has been on there for about a week or so. I was really proud that I did that.

The book was ordered today, and now there is no cover image again.

I know it wasn't the wrong cover csince I scanned the actual book. And since it was there, the size must have been okay.

Any ideas about this?

Thanks!!

Beth, there are 3 different sizes of images that are attached to a book.  The "thumbnail" size is the size you see on your own bookshelf and wishlist.  When a book is part of a transaction on your "my account" page, you're looking at the "regular" size, same as when you click on a book's title to see more info.  And then, you'll sometimes see a "view larger image" link that opens up a... larger image.

When we upload images, we post just one size, and somewhere down the line, that one image is saved in 2 or 3 different sizes.  Unfortunately, a certain percentage of those images gets lost in cyberspace.  When I check my images a week or two after posting them, there are often a few where the thumbnail image appears just fine, but the regular and/or larger image is missing.  In that case, I just repost the image (using the blue "Upload book covers" link at the bottom of any page,) and it usually "takes" the 2nd time around.

If you do a search for your book using a couple of key words, something that will bring up more than just your book, you'll see a list of books with thumbnail images, and my bet is that your thumbnail image -- the one you were seeing when the book was still on your bookshelf --  is still there.

Post the image again, and you'll be fine.

Thanks Patti. I think that explained what happened.
