This book is a diatribe in novel form. The writing could be better, and I wish they'd focused a bit more on the plot rather than throwing in every possible problem a teacher might encounter in the real world, but such is life. For those who are teachers, or those considering the role, it might be useful reading. I'd like to have seen more proposed solutions for the various problems raised, but if they were that easy to fix, they wouldn't still be problems.

I thought that this was a very good book. It was written by teachers and shows what they really have to deal with in the declining school system. It is also not just their point of view but has a great story line and very colorful characters.
