Deciding to divorce is an incredibly difficult decision to make, and an incredibly painful transition to get through. Every divorce has individual circumstances, just as every state has divorce and custody laws that are unique to that state. However, this book does an excellent job of covering the basics to prepare for and endure divorce from couple to couple, and from state to state.
If you are contemplating divorce, just starting the process, or well underway, this book can still get you through the hoops, from choosing a lawyer to choosing to go pro se; from getting your finances straight to contemplating mediation vs. a visit to family court. And, of course, this books addresses the complexities of child custody negotiations and litigation, and anticipates future potential conflicts in raising children with your ex-spouse in the aftermath of your divorce.
There is even a reassuring aftermath section. It's always good to be reminded that things get easier with time.
Divorce is painful and complicated; this is a guide that makes the process easier.
