Can anybody tell me a little bit more about this book, Doctor Zhivago, by
Boris Pasternak? How is this book? I saw that at least one person on the Classics Challenge has read or is currently reading it. Care to share your opinions of it?

One of the people who mentioned reading the book is no longer a member here so can't post any more. I started the book once but lost interest in it and did not go very far in it and quit.

I was considering picking up a copy but after browsing some "goodreads" reviews, decided against it. 

I've read this, many years ago (and by the way, I disagree with the posters who say it's not that great of a read, I loved it) and am wondering if anyone who has read this can tell me which particular translation to get and why? I have NO idea which I read all those years ago, and I am now seeing here that there are a couple of different ones. It's a big book, and I'd like to get the best one, but I do know this is a subjective thing, too. (The translator has a BIG lot to do with how good a book is in our (not so beautiful) English language.)
