Yes, I'm doing my part to weed out inactive accounts.  I've had a book on my shelf in a perpetual state of 48-hour holds for 2 weeks now.  Good thing I don't particualrly need the credit right away.

I've been doing mine also.  Had one WL book go through 4 people and another through 3 in the past couple of weeks.  Also ordered 7 books from one person and the time expired, so the books then got ordered from 7 different people, so instead of making one person very happy, I've made 7 people somewhat happy.  LOL. Hey, it's the thought that counts -- you TRIED to save someone the postage.  Santa Claus and/or Hanukkah Harry will note that in their lists and remember. :)

I'm always surprised by how many people put a popular book on their WL and then forget it's on there or change their minds.  Of course, the WL is my favorite PBS feature so I'm always looking at it and tweaking it--I know some people don't think about it as much as I do.  On the rare occasion that I obtain one of my WL books somewhere other than PBS practially the first thing I do is come to my WL and delete the book.

In all of my years at PBS I think I refused one WL book, and that was because I had more than one version one my list and was offered two different versions within days of each other (this was before the "hold" feature).  I really WANT everything on my WL!!

I am with Diane -- if it is on my wish list, I want it but I think a lot of members use it as a reminder list instead...I posted one decades-out-of-print WL book and PM'd the member that I had a couple of unpostables by the same author that I would include for free if they would like. Time ticked by, I heard nothing, and I checked to see if my PM had been read and yes, it had been read and STILL the member let the book time out! I don't understand that -- you take the time to read a PM, but you can't mark that you do not want the book? It's so inconsiderate and it slows down the process for everyone else waiting. My point is that, unfortunately, not all members that let a book time out are inactive...

Three cheers and an extra hunk of pumpkin pie for all of you. Thank you for doing your PBS Civic Duty. yes

I'm sorry you're frustrated, I hate it when that happens myself too.  I just try to remember Karma will even everything out, eventually. devil

I have done the same thing with several books in the past couple of weeks, going through 3, 4, 5 wishers before it's ordered...and that's how I always look at it, too...helping weed out inactive accounts. One book I totally decimated the wishlist--started off with 10 wishers, cycled through a few 48 hour holds, then had 3 RCs in a row that I couldn't meet. This is another of those things that goes in streaks...sometimes I post a few wishlisted books and they're all snapped up by the first person...other times, it's the endless wait.
