Cervantes' great classic, a pioneer of the modern novel, is a highly amusing satirical romance of eccentric knight-errantry conducted in the region of La mancha, central Spain, and it has captured the imagination of generations since its publication in the early seventeenth century. The word "quixotic" has entered the English language deriving directly from the ineffectual adventures of Don Quiote in which his manifestly absurd chivalry is comically combined with generosity and futility.

I realize this is a classic, but I have yet to figure out why. To be perfectly honest, this is the worst book I've ever read.
