How do they get used? ...for new members' 2 free credits they start with? |

I imagine they'd be used for whatever they need them for, which would include the two free credits. Or they might go to some other fund raiser situation. I don't think they say for sure anywhere. Does it really matter? |

They would also go to books that people send with a DC (from PBS) and the book goes lost and both parties get their credits back. One credit would be returned automatically, but one credit would have to come from somewhere (PBS). There are probably other uses, but can't think of any right now. Pat |

I don't think they really get "used" for a specific purpose. PBS needs to have a reserve to cover all the credits out there so when you donate them back it reduces that liability for them that all the free credits given out creates. The Help Center explains it better: Friends of PBS - how does donating credits help the club?It seems strange, we know, but donating credits back is really great for PBS - the IRS requires us to maintain a financial liability for the cost of all credits issued on the site. This liability impacts the clubs operations and limits our options on future growth. You can donate money too - who doesn't like money? :) Every bit helps! Donating back just your startup credits (2 if you joined after 10/5/2007, 3 if you joined before then) means that those credits can be recycled to new members and will reduce the overall liability to the club. Giving back more than your startup credits helps more! And if you donate 3 credits or more, you get a nifty badge to wear on your profile and forum posts. Donating PBS Money is added to your donation total also (each $3.45 donated = another donated credit). Last Edited on: 1/25/11 6:22 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
