If anyone is interested in signing up with donorschoose.org I have 2 Giving Cards for $25 each that they requested I share with a friend, relative, or colleague who isn't already a member. You can go to their website and read about the program but basically teachers submit proposals for classroom projects/supplies in all subject areas and you can search by school, subject, cost, etc and put money towards the project. If the project you donate to isn't fully funded you have the option of transferring the money to another project within a set number of days or letting the teacher or donorschoose pick a project. donating $100 to a single project or finishing a project you will receive a packet in the mail with thank you notes/letters from the students. These are very nice and many times you can finish a project for under $50 and sometimes less. They also do not harrass me with unwanted emails..every email is either an update to the project I supported or project suggetions I requested they send me. also all correspondence is posted on the proposal's site and goes through donorschoose..donorschoose orders the supplies and has them sent to the school and the school sends them the thank you notes for the organization to send.

These giving cards come from a donor and I'm trying to use them as they intended(belive me I can certain find $50 worth of projects to support LOL but I'm already a member and they're hoping to use these to attract others to the site)

hopefully some others here who support classroom projects on donorschoose.org can chime in on how great the site is.

I have my favorite areas to support but others vary - for instance I like to support classroom libraries, preferably those with a reasonable dollar amount of say under $200..to me that's not being so greedy and I can help out more than one and I feel the lower amounts reach their goals more often(that's just me though) and to me books are more important than say a class wanting $5000 of computers or printers but others will feel diffferently. I've also supported some band and music projects..one class even sent me color pics they  printed out! very nice. I'm also a sucker for some autism projects or just whatever catches my eye.

anyways I've given out 2 of these giving cards this year and am happy they sent me 2 more in 2 differnt packets to give to 2 other people. all you need is to be willing to open an account and use the card(I can pm the code)!

I received pictures and a thank you letter today from one of the schools I sponsored. It was nice seeing how a small donation can really change a classroom.

Thank you for introducing me to this site Susanna.
