I do not think it's possible.  Kindle format books are only readable on a Kindle or on Kindle for PC.  The are DRM protected so you couldn't convert them to a format the Nook would read.

I've heard that there's a way to break the DRM and then convert them, but it's entirely possible that breaking DRM is illegal - may be, may not be, no case law yet, lots of discussion about it.

I know there are places on the internet where you can sell your gift cards after Christmas and get, I think, cash. You might do a shout-out in CMT. I know there was a thread about it last December for people who rec'd gift cards they didn't want, or someone needed grocery money and wanted to sell gift cards. I **think** the name of the recommended website was Plastic Jungle, but I couldn't swear to it, memory is not that great at my age. They take a little off the top, of course, but it's better than having a gift card you can't use.

In my opinion, breaking DRM just to be able to read an Amazon Kindle book on a Nook is probably not anything that is too horrible. Breaking DRM in order to share the book with others is a big legal and moral no-no. But I've never successfully broken DRM on an ebook. Though recently, I bought some ebooks from All Romance (whatever that site is) and they had an option of buying the book in several ebook formats, as well as the the HTML format (like what is used for web pages). I chose HTML , copied and pasted the text from my HTML ebooks into my word processor, and made PDF files (which I could then convert to other formats) so I could read the books on either my Nook or my Kindle. I don't intend to share these ebooks with anyone else, so I don't think I did anything wrong. I'd do the same thing with a DRMed ebook (if I knew how, which I don't).

I wish I could help you, but since I don't know how to break DRM (and wouldn't be allowed to discuss it here even if I did know how! LOL) then that solution is a dead-end. I'd go with Marilyn's suggestion, and find a way to sell the gift cards. Or buy paper books or other items from Amazon.

I know there's a way to break DRM in EPUB and PDF files, I've done it.  I suppose it's possible in the Kindle format too, if not, someone will figure out how to do it.

I only broke the DRM in order to convert a couple of ebooks I had into a format I could put on my Sony reader, I certainly wouldn't do it in order to redistribute the books to anyone else.

I just wish I could get people to buy my crs with B&N gift cards.  Not sure if its harder to do than buying the Amazon gift cards.  As for me buying other things I am tho soon I run out of things I need!  No I Dont want Paperback or Hardback books!  I purchased the eReader to get rid of them!  Most of my authors are on CD!  But I finding a few that dont do Audio.

Thanks for answering my questions!!
