I was wondering if anyone has an opinion about downloading movies to a Nook HD either using the Barnes and Noble options or the Google Play store. My husband would like a device on which he could watch movies while he is on an airplane. I'm kind of thinking this would make a nice Christmas present for him. I think there will be good prices on the Nook HD but I am also considering the Kindle Fire HD or possibly the Nexus 7. Very important for me would be the ability to download the movie so it would not be dependent upon the availability of wifi, also we would probably rent the videos, not buy them. BTW, I currently own a Nook Tablet but I'm not sure I want to give it up while he travels, plus it can't access the Google Play store. Thanks! |

Kindle Fire allows Downloads .... movie you Own from Amazon. Rentals must be streamed...wifi is needed. You can also Side load movies or Download Free Movies thru YouTube. Oh I can Download from VuDu. Last Edited on: 12/1/13 5:51 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

If you are an Amazon Prime member, and get the Kindle Fire HDX, you can download videos that are free to Prime members, and watch them off line. I don't have one of those tablets, but you should find info on that on the website. |

Thanks for the responses! I took a chance and purcased a Nook HD on Black Friday for $79. I was told I can rent a movie from the Google Play store and download it. I will report back after Christmas on whether this worked or not. |

Well even if it doesn't work for movies the way you want, keep that Nook HD. You won't be sorry! Especially at that price. |
