I think this is the first Dirk Pitt adventure I've read. I really enjoyed it. It was about a nuclear attack Japan was planning against the US. Good, easy reading!

Nuclear holocaust, secret underwater stations, Japanese art discovered in an old Nazi underground vault, and the kidnapping of two U. S. Congressmen carry readers through an exciting story of power and insatiable greed. Humor pervades the story; Cussler places himself in one scene, suggests in another that the yen become the currency of the United States, and dresses Pitt's Uncle Percy in a lavender sport coat and lizard-skin boots. An attention-holding novel set in 1993.

I really enjoyed this book.

Mr. Cussler, once again, has produced a very entertaining story with many twists and turns. The hero is once again Dirk Pitt and his friend Al Giordino who save the day.
A THIRD atomic bomb not acknowledged by anyone and left over from World War II is one of the beginning elements of this yarn. Add to that the economic ascendency of Japan and you have a very entertaining read.
