Anyone else excited about DragonLight by Donita K Paul? I'm happy that the release date is finally near (tomorrow). I love this series, and fantasy is not my thing. She writes so descriptively that I'm picturing everything in my head and before I know it, I've spent hours with one of her books, and it felt like minutes. I always LOL at some of the interactions between the dragons and their people.

I've never even heard of that author (or the books).  What's the first book in the series?

Dragonspell is the first book.  I just finished re-reading it last night in preparation for Dragonlight. Her books are so funny.  Wizard Fenworth always has me laughing!

The books are DragonSpell, DragonQuest, DragonKnight, DragonFire, and now the final (boo!) one DragonLight. Wizard Fenworth makes me laugh too. :-)

I'll have to pick this up.  I bought the first 4 books back in the spring at this discount Christian bookstore in Gatlinburg, TN.  I flew through the series in no time.

Wizard Fenworth was quite humorous.  I hate it that he's gone now.

I read DragonLight a few weeks ago and it was wonderful!  I read DragonSpell as a precursor but haven't read the ones in the middle yet.  I had to review DragonLight for my blog and that's why I actually read it a few weeks before its release - it was great!

I got DragonSpell from the library, and thoroughly enjoyed it!!  I also have Dragon Knight, but I've got the other books on order from Amazon, and am going to wait to read them until I have them all.  I like to have the whole series in hand, so I can read them all right in a row.  :-)  Thanks for the recommendation!!

She's really nice too! She had a bad bout with cancer about 2 years ago and wasn't sure if she was even going to finish the series but I'm happy to say she seems to be fine now.

Here's her web site: www.donitakpaul.com

I've never heard of Dragonlight series before-  is it for adults or can children hear it too?  I have a nephew who is crazy about dragons and thought if it had a Christian message in with it this would be a good series to get him for his birthday.

Thanks,

Jeannette

Jeanette- They're actually more for children, though many adults enjoy them also.  That would be great if you would get them for your nephew!  There are actually several dragon series out there with a Christian message.  Try the Dragons in Our Midst series, by Bryan Davis.

DW and I came in the series around the 3rd book and loved it so much we got the first 2.

Now even though this series is finished at the end of the book it says she is going to write a new Book (series?) using the same world she created in these books just on a different contenent. I am very much looking forward to that one.

Well, duh, I'm glad to see this thread!!  I thought the new book was out in September, not June!!  Time to go visit CBD, I guess... I don't think I can stand the long waitlist here for it!  :)-
