Jarl Koenig, Earthly computer programmer, had been getting peacefully drunk when a leprechaun spirited him away to Realm, an enchanted place where dragons and unicorns dwell. Magically transported across the land by the dragon talisman he'd somehow acquired and hailed as Dragon's Pawn, Jarl had been chosen to defend Realm against the evil Shadowford.
But first he must go on a quest to become Keeper's Knight, taking with him a unique dragon ally, a scholarly vegetarian named Fafnoddle von Fafnir, who prefers gardening to fighting. And so, while the Shadowford gathers strength, novice hero and peace-loving dragon set out to learn their trade as quickly and as well as possible. Learn they must, for a failing grade brings a Realm possessed by Evil!
