I was offered a WL book, accepted it, and was waiting for it to be mailed. Well, I was super-busy for a couple of days, and didn't get to check the site. During that time, the original WL timed out (sender never marked it mailed), I received another WL offer of the same book, but lost it because I didn't check in within 48 hours (assuming that the book was on its way from the first sender). So after all that, I have no book and lost my place in the WL line. Bah! I know it's my fault in the end for not checking in, buy sheesh - what are the odds of all that happening in 48 hours? ;) |

Use auto-request. That way its ok if you don't check in in 48 hours. What if you had a different book offered in that time?

Use Auto Request...Problem Solved. -RD |

I agree--auto request is the way to go! I'm checking in here usually at least daily but I still love that convenience so if my internet goes down or have computer trouble or something I don't need to worry about it. I don't know why TPTB would reinstate her place on the wishlist line, as she stated it was her fault for not checking in or checking email for 48 hours...even if she thought the book was ordered already...she has over a hundred books on her WL so if another book had been posted for her she would've missed that too, unfortunately. We live and learn. :) Cheryl |

Yep - I wasn't looking for an easy way out - just commenting on the plain old bad luck of missing out on the same book twice in 48 hours. I will definitely look into auto request - I had forgotten that the option even existed - thanks for the reminder. |

I auto request all the books where I am close to the top or books that I really, really want. The only ones that are not on auto request are the ones I hope the library will get or if the book has a super long waiting list. |
