T. C. Boyle has an intelligent and descriptive writing style and he is a celebrated, award-winning author. Much can be expected of a novel whose author holds these credentials. Drop City one of the best books I've read this year. I liked his narratives and his subject matter. I laughed and smiled the entire way through the book. Parts of the book are hilarious and some are just amusing, but it all adds up to a fun read. Plus, I learned some new words because the language is so complex! I recommend this book to readers who are tired of commercial fiction and love a good literary read.

Drop City , so cool. A commune of hippies , set in the 1960's moves from California to Alaska to "live off the land". An odd bunch of misfits, told only by such a story teller as T.C. Boyle. A book I really won't forget reading. Couldn't put it down. However, it is a long book.

This is only the second T.C. Boyle book that I've read, but both were incredibly fine reads. At first I was put off by some of his creepy characters and sleazy situations, but his fiction comes off as purely authentic and is engrossing.

Drop City has two seemingly unrelated stories working (a la early Tom Clancy), but, as expected, they merged smoothly to create this profound story. The herd of northern California hippies and the hard-scrabble Alaskan end-of-the-roaders eventually learn to co-exist, sort of.

I truly didn't want Drop City to end, it is that good!

I just couldn't get into this story. Too many characters and too much description.

I couldn't get into this book. *NOTE*:This is the British addition of this ISBN#. The ISBN # to this book is actually 0747571562, but the system won't accept the UK Isbn #

I put it down and didn't pick it back up after a couple of pages. Definitely NOT my type of book.
