Donnie Muller & Mitch Donaldson, high school students in a small midwestern American city, meet accidently, after Donnie faints in class one day.

In each other, they quickly find an understanding, sympathy & tenderness that is almost totally lacking in their home lives. And when home & school pressures intensify, Donnie and Mitch decide to leave school, get married, and make a new life for themselves.

Their new path, beset w/ more & more unforseen problems, quickly becomes a very thorny one, until Donnie & Mitch are forced to a decision that proves their own increasing maturity, and promises real, though delayed, happiness for the 2 young people.
