I really enjoyed this novel. It's a lot different than your average fictional mystery. Interspersed throughout the novel are the complete recipes that the characters are creating, including Johnnycakes, Cowpoke Chicken, and Audrey's Strawberry Spinach Salad.

Dying to Decorate was easy to read and very interesting. In fact, I finished it the same day I started it. I liked it, but I felt like the title did not really reflect what the book is about. The title doesn't reflect the mystery/murder aspect -- and I don't want to give away what this is. The author does a good job of approaching the story in several ways; you hear the beleagured mother's viewpoint, the girls club viewpoint, the Christian viewpoint, a historical view, and finally a senior citizen viewpoint. I don't think I've ever read a book that meshes these all together so well and seamlessly. I wasn't bored - it certainly wasn't the same old plot! I'm looking forward to reading her 2nd in the series, Crime and Clutter.
