Fourth in the series and although there is some backstory provided, it's not until close to the end. Seems like starting earlier would be better for the reader. I liked this one a lot. First, her need to clear her brother means Casey is finally turning to face her life instead of running away, I liked how the potential murder charge against her was cleared up so quickly - Casey just knew that would be a terrible, awful thing and it just went away. Nice mystery as well, you feel for the victim and eventually the family, although even with the victim's real name provided by Death it seemed awfully easy for the Casey and Eric to find out stuff. A couple of those people really deserved to be thwacked upside the head. This feels like the end of the series, although I know there is one more, but reading the description I think it must take place earlier in the timeline.
Last book I mentioned that unlike most readers I see Death as female not male. I paid more attention this time and my mental image of Death turned rather androgynous. There's a mention of Death wearing a leisure suit, which seems male, and its dialogue doesn't seem quite so...I can't come up with the word I want.."Valley Girl" maybe. Anyway, enjoyable book.
