He wrote a number of social comedies and mysteries in the first part of the 20th century.  He seems to be most well-known for the Mapp and Lucia series of books and I am wondering if that is because that series is better, or if people are more familiar with it from the BBC adaptation?

I have loved E.F. Benson for about 40 years. I started with his Lucia books (have read and re-read them--they're so witty!) and continued with others. I own over 100 of his books (most are out of print,  but thanks to ebay, I'm in heaven). I belong to the Benson Society and would love to go to Rye during their Benson summer celebration.
