When looking for books in a series or books by the same author, is there anyway to search for a book and find out whose bookshelf it's in so you can browse their books instead of randomly looking in the member directory? or do I just have to post in the book bazaar to see if someone has multiple books I want so I can hopefully get a deal?

No Amy, the data base isn't set up for that type of search.  Some members request the first book, then after it's accepted they search the senders bookshelf for more of the series.  But that's hit and miss, not to mention time consuming and frustrating.

Many PBS members love to send multiples to save on postage, so your thoughts on Book Bazaar are valid.  I don't go there much, but there may be some guidelines regarding asking for wishlisted books.  Otherwise post away, there's probably somebody that would love to send you multiples!

ETA - Welcome to PBS Amy!!

Depending on what authors/genres you're looking into, some of the forums have a thread called "Is This On Your Bookshelf" where members can request books that they want to fill in those empty slots in series. I know the Mystery and Love & Romance forums have a thread like this, other genres might, too.

This is NOT for wish list books, however.

Another option is to go to Community - Box O Books - and search the boxer's shelves.

If I want a deal on them, I post in the book bazaar or the Is This On Your Bookshelf thread. I don't like PMing people to ask for deals.  If I just want to make an effort to order more than 1 from someone to save them postage, then I check boxer shelves first.  If no luck there, then I open 2 PBS windows (or even 3 sometimes). I start an order for a different book that I'm looking for on each one and then use the Order More From Member button to see if any of them has more than one.  You do not have to wait until a book is accepted to check their shelf and see if they have more than one.

The FIFO set-up won't allow that type of search.  I've been trying to build series and I for one think it would be great to be able to find who has the books I need. So I feel your pain.
