Pamela Britton is a very good writer; blend of real life problems and romance. This story is about Rebecca Newman, widow of driver Randy Newman, and car owner, her new driver and his very precocious daughter. A very good read.
Britton's third in the NASCAR series is entertaining. Though it lacks the sizzle of "Dangerous Curves," Britton makes up for it by giving her characters much-needed depth. Rebecca's anguish in moving on is evident from the start and it is nice to see a heroine not just jump into the arms of a new man so quickly. Readers familiar with the series will find themselves scratching their heads as Rebecca and Randy's last name switched from Newell to Newman for no apparent reason.
For Nascar racing fans this is a must read! For non-racing fans its still a great book, easy to follow and loveable drivers.
I am a NASCAR fan and was hesitant to read any of Pamela's books at first. However, after I read one, I was hooked. On The Edge is fantastic and a must read for anyone who read any of Pamela's books.
Great book - Ms. Britton has a great handle on NASCAR. Love the hero and heroine. Adam is a take-charge kind of guy and Becca is somewhat troubled - very nice role-reversal of the typical romance I have read lately. I also loved Adam's daughter - she adds a lot to the story. Great read - if you like racing or don't like racing - you will enjoy this great romance (I read it in one day!)
Not a Nascar far BUT enjoy the themed books. Not my usual read...but now I own all in the series!!!
another great one in the Nascar series
I loved this book. Third in the Nascar series, it was just as compelling as the first two.
I was skeptical at first...I mean, Nascar and romance aren't two things that generally are thought about at the same time. But it was definatly a pleasant surprise!
A very good NASCAR romance.
If you are a sports fan, especially race care enthusiast, you will enjoy this book. It is fast-paced and a quick read.
A little light on the NASCAR details that made her previous books such a treat. More depth as to differences in the Cup and the Trucks would have been ideal, but still a good read.
This is book#2 in Britton's Nascar Series, It Was a fast, enjoyable read. I can't wait for "To the Edge coming in Feb. 07.
Very quick read, very interesting insight to the world of NASCAR! I'm not a fan, but I just might become one after reading this!
Unknown NASCAR driver Adam Drake has some of the best moves Rebecca Newman has ever seen, both on an doff the track. But she can't afford to feel anything for the new driver she's hired to pilot her race car. WIth the financial security of her team hanging in the balance and everyone in the series thinking she's nuts, the last thing she needs is lust getting in the way of logic. Too bad Adam has other ideas.
Adam isn't afraid of a challenge, but getting close to his new owner is proving to be a tougher road than soem of the superspeedways he's driven. It's going to take a secret weapon--his daughter. Soon his precocious ten-year-old has Rebecca on the run--straight into Adam's arms. But can he convince her to stay with him, and leave behind the ghosts of her past once and for all?
One of the NASCAR series, this one about Rebecca Newman who owns a NASCAR racing fleet and driver, Adam Drake. Not the best in the series, but still a nice, light read. Perhaps the author needs a new theme.
The 2nd in the nascar set I liked it and can't wait for more
maybe one with tony stewart or dale jr as the hero yah baby
Great book, especially if you like NASCAR. I have read both of the other books, great reads.
Unknown NASCAR driver Adam Drake has some of the best moves Rebecca Newman has ever seen, both on and off the track.
I finished "On The Edge" by Pamela Britton last night at work. I have to say, this installment in her NASCAR series of books was, as always, a great read. Now I have to admit, I never realized it was a series until I realized that I kept seeing the same characters. Duh. LOL I have all but one of the books and I ordered the one I'm missing from PaperBackSwap last night, so I'll have it in a couple of weeks. :)
"On The Edge" is the story of Becca Newman and Adam Drake. It's the third book in the series, with "Dangerous Curves" being the first book, although "Dangerous Curves" is not a part of the NASCAR Library Collection. Becca Newman is the widow of five-time Nextel Cup Series champion Randy Newman. She heads up her late husband's one-car race team. When 10-year-old Lindsey Drake makes her way, on her own and without her dad's knowledge, to Mooresville, NC to speak with Becca about giving her dad, Adam, a chance to drive for Newman Motorsports, Becca just can't find it in her heart to refuse.
This book keeps you wondering what will happen next as Lindsey makes some very obvious attempts at matchmaking. You'll definitely laugh, and at one point, I even had to wipe tears away during a scene towards the end of the book, because it was one of those sad/happy moments. You'd just have to read the book to understand.
If you are a NASCAR fan and a romance fan, I highly suggest you get started on the NASCAR Library Series books by Pamela Britton. In order they are - "Dangerous Curves" (not officially a part of the NASCAR Library but first in the series), "In The Groove," "On The Edge," "To The Limit," "Total Control," and "On The Move." The next book, according to Ms. Britton's website, is an untitled book that comes out in late 2009. There is a story in "A NASCAR Holiday 2" that I believe also goes somewhere in the series, probably between "Total Control" and "On The Move" but I'm not certain. I'll have to find the book and read the story again. :)
Intimate relationship between a fictional Nascar driver and the woman who owns the racecar.
Romance between Nascar driver and owner.
If you are in to auto racing, you will LOVE this book. Britton has a great grasp of auto racing. Can't wait for "To The Limit"
I rate it two stars because I'm not a nacar fan.And it is about racing and romance. The book is almost new.Very good condition!!
On The Edge by Pamela Britton
Rebecca Newmans past four years havent been her best. Her husband Randy had died and now her racing business is in dire straights. What she needs is to find the best driver around and start winning. She didnt expect the answer to her problems to come knocking on her door in the form of a ten year old girl.
Adam Drake had one priority, his daughter Lindsey. His daughter had one priority as well, getting her dad back into racing. Adam raced the local dirt tracks on the week-ends, but Lindsey knew he was better than that. So she took matters into her own hands. And why not match make while shes at it?
The third book in the series continues with a racing romance. The reader met Becca in the previous two books, a business woman who seems to have it all together.from the outside. The road to romance is never easy for the couples in these books, this one included. There are seven books total in this series.
