Hi everyone! This may seem like a bizarre question, but here goes. I just read Little Women for the first time last year and absolutely loved it. The problem with my copy is, I got it from a used bookstore, and it was either very well-loved or read by a hard reader-- the spine is completely bent inward, and it's at least twelve or thirteen years old (as it's the edition that was issued when the 1994 movie came out). So, I'm looking for a new copy so I'll have one to read that I can take with me to college and such. What would you say is the most affordable and insightful edition? I don't necessarily need one with footnotes; I read it without them the first time and got on just fine (I knew most of the literary allusions and such). I was considering the Norton Critical Edition, since the essays and such seemed interesting, or the older Puffin edition (cannot stand the new one; it's small, so it's thick, and the cover art is a leg sticking out of a petticoat-- much too suggestive for a perfectly innocent book!). Thanks for any opinions!

I've never read an annotated version of "Little Women" that I can recall - I did just get a copy through PBS, but all I was careful to do was to not get an abridged one. It's one of my all time favorite books and I'm ready for a re-read! |

Haha, I only just read it for the first time this past October, and I'm already re-reading it! I loved it; I'm just hoping to find a good, durable copy (probably what will become my first of many) for the years to come! |
