I was thinking of reading something by this author but can't find anything here at pbs. She apparently was a very popular author at one time but hardly anybody reads her any more. I guess.

Charles, decades ago I used to read her, and enjoyed her books.  I am quite surprised that none are available.  My two favorites were made into movies: Ice Palace, and Giant.

Charles, we are simpatico, I've been thinking for several months now of revisiting Edna Ferber's work.  I read 3 or 4 of her books when I was in late teens and have been thinking I want to re-read, at least, Cimarron and maybe Giant.  Those are the two of hers I remember most (I have a personal bias for Oklahoma as that is my birth state), I think maybe I read Showboat, too.  My local libraries have Giant and Showboat but not Cimarron.

I can't give you a realistic review of the books as it has been waaaaay too long since I read the books and read from the perspective of youth but I can tell you I never forgot how much I enjoyed the books.  If I never read more of her books it was because I couldn't get my hands on them or my reading choices just became more contemporary.
